Did you know that 35% of Canadians who visit a food bank are children? Now that’s a scary fact!
There are a lot of ways to make a difference this Halloween. Here are some ideas to get started:
- Turn your costume party into food drive. Connect with your local food bank to find out what’s most needed this time of year and share that list with friends and family coming to your party. Let party guests know that a donation is an easy ticket in to your celebration.
- Work with your school or organization to host a Halloween themed fundraiser. Having a collection box readily available at the door of your school dance or company party can go a long way for food bank. Food banks are always looking for monetary donations to round out the food they receive from the community.
- Trick or treat for food or funds. If you and your friends are planning on going trick or treating this year, why not use that time to collect food or funds for your local food bank? It’ll be a great treat for them during the upcoming holiday season!
- Attend a Halloween food sort event. Contact your local food bank and plan a time to volunteer. Make it fun by getting a group together dressing up in theme.
Take action this Halloween and find a local food bank to give funds, food or time!
